Why am I self publishing BABY & BUMP?

Got asked this question (again) yesterday.....

I think people are confused by this because I've been traditionally published coming up on five times now, with three different publishers, and why would I fix something that's not broken?

Well, this is why:

In the beginning, authors say they don't care how much money their books make, so long as they're published and people are reading their work. I know. I said it, too. But with time that opinion changes. For every single author I know.

I've got a family with five children. I've got a husband who works hard to support us. I'm putting, thousands of hours of work into my books, with very little payoff. It's embarrassing, really.

So I decided...if my books makes money, I'm getting the money. Even if it's just pennies. They're my pennies. And so....I'm self pubbing BABY & well as the two subsequent books in the This & That Series.

So excited to share this book with you all. Meggan Connors is my editor, and she is amazing. To say I love that girl would be an understatement--she's good people. Not to mention my beta readers, Jess and Katie. Fabulous support for a book I think (pray) you'll all enjoy!

Stay tuned for BABY & BUMP!

Character inspiration: The What If Guy

Hip, hip hooray! The What If Guy was rereleased this week, at a more reader-friendly price!

I'm so excited for this book to become easier and more affordable for my readers. When I sat down to write The What If Guy, I wanted to write a book about finding your first love again, and about coming home to a small town after life in the big city. I channeled my inner small town girl, and based Autumn & Henry's story in Fairfield, Washington, the town I grew up in. The older I get, the more fond of that little speck on the map I seem to get. :)

So today I've decided to offer all of my loyal readers a glimpse into what I pictured inside of my head when I was writing The What If Guy. What did all of my characters look like as I created them?

Well, here you go......a glimpse into the mind of Brooke Moss. (Don't mind the cobwebs)

Henry Tobler and Elliott Cole.......I can't separate these two pictures because Blogger is cranky.

Autumn Cole.

Cover AND blurb...

Squeeeeeee! Here is the cover AND blurb for my upcoming release, Baby & Bump:

At thirty years old, caterer Lexie Baump has a lot on her plate. With a business to run, she doesn’t have time for any added distractions. But one momentary indiscretion adds a little hiccup to Lexie’s plans. She’s pregnant. With no relationship prospects.

But if Lexie thought fighting morning sickness while running a catering business was hard, enter Dr. Fletcher Haybee. Their connection is instant, and their love of vintage rock tee shirts and Elvis music is enough to bond them for life. There are just two minor problems.

One: he’s dating her oversexed best friend. Two: he’s also her obstetrician.

With events to cater, awkward OB appointments to endure, and her ever-growing baby bump making it impossible to close her jeans, Lexie has to find a way to curb her undeniable attraction toward Fletcher and focus on her new role as a working mother. But it certainly isn’t easy when its clear Fletcher himself feels the same magnetic pull toward Lexie.

Can Lexie leave the gorgeous Fletcher for her best friend to chew up and spit out, or will she cave to her feelings and find love in the stirrups? Life is about to get messy, and we're not just talking about crumbs in the car seat...

Want to help a good, nay, GREAT cause?

Hey, all of my Christian readers out there: my beautiful, kind, devoted niece is going on a summer mission trip to Mexico, and needs help raising funds!

This trip will provide opportunities to serve the less fortunate as well as spread God's message, & our family couldn't be prouder of her. Regardless of religious affiliation, the message of Eedy's trip is pure, righteous, and valiant, and I'm so pleased to help her get there. :)

If you've got a few bucks to help Eedy get to Mexico this summer, send it here: Valley Real Life- C/O Eedy Robinson Tecate Mission Trip, P.O. Box 397, Spokane Valley, WA 99016.

Every little bit helps, & you honestly couldn't be supporting a more worthy kid. She's one in a million. ♥

What are you listening to?

Right now I'm listening to a little bit of vintage Madonna. Remember this song?

Now I have to go wrap my head around the fact that this song came out before my senior year of high school, and is considered vintage.

Does this mean I am considered vintage as well?

Another Abercrombie & Fitch rant...

Mike Jeffries, CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch (see post below for their views on "fat", "ugly" people) says he only wants attractive people wearing his clothes, & that they burn all of their unsold items, because it would be bad for their image to donate it, & have poor people walking around in it. only want good looking people to wear your clothes?

Mike Jeffries, CEO of A&F......and a potato face.

Ugliness apparently spreads from the inside out, dude. You be fugly. Reeeeally fugly. Good luck with that.

THIS IS BOGUS!!! This is exactly why I will never fork out my hard earned money to buy my children clothes at Abercrombie & Fitch. Disgusting, sick attitudes that contribute to the narcissism of today's young people. Blech.

Click here to read what the heck I'm talking about: Boycott Abercrombie & Fitch!!!

Share me!

You know, I never had allergies until I started having kids. Now I'm deathly allergic to cats, and I've got a new allergy that has attacked me this week, leaving the inside of my throat itchy and unbearable.

So. Completely. Weird.

This is me:

Okay, maybe not quite.....

And I'm not happy about it.

Want some good news, though? My lovely, smart, talented, and impeccable editor, Meggan Connors, is starting work on Baby & Bump! Which means we're one step closer to releasing it. Squeeeeeee! I can't wait for my readers to enjoy it! Such a funny story.

Happy May day.

Growing up, my best friend was this boy across the street named Dylan. I also loved his sister, baby brother, and parents. In fact, I wanted them to be my family. So, so much.

Anyway, every May 1st, his mom--who was the loveliest, happiest, kindest hippie woman you'd ever meet, and I still sigh happily when I think about her--would help us assemble tiny flower bouquets with all of the daffodils, marigolds, apple blossoms, and dandilions we could find. Then we would walk around putting the arrangements on our neighbor's doors, then ring the bell and run away.

This was one of my favoritest things to do. And today, being May Day, I am reminded of those days when Dylan and I would hike around the neighborhood in Fairfield, sans shoes, delivering messy little bouquets of weeds. *SIGH* Those were the days.

Happy May Day.
